Dog Friendly Getaway to Little Haven, St Ives
Sitting above Porthminster Beach, boasting a great elevated position, Little Haven gives you breathtaking views across to the harbour and round to Godrevy Lighthouse in a quiet and peaceful part of St Ives.
When it comes to holiday accommodation, I have very high standards. I have four top priorities - dog friendly, stunning views, parking and a bright, fresh, contemporary interior. Little Haven ticked all of these boxes.
I was greeted by the flat's owner, Becky, who very kindly offered to meet me to help me take my luggage up to the flat. Staying here will certainly keep you fit due to walking up the hill from the allocated parking space and then up the stairs to the second floor.
On walking into the flat, my bright, fresh and contemporary box was well and truly ticked. Decorated and styled throughout with soft, calming hues of blues, greens and greys brightened by punchy shades of mustard. There's the perfect balance of finishing touches to make the place feel homely.
Walking into the bedroom, the bed resembles boutique hotel style with a large headboard, plush cushions and bedspread popping off crisp white bed linen and fluffy white towels. What really takes your breath away is the far reaching sea views through the panoramic window out to Godrevy Lighthouse wrapping around to St Ives harbour. There is a built in wardrobe and a small TV.
The bathroom is next off the hallway with a large bath and shower over, perfect for a long soak after exploring the South West Coast Path but also for rinsing off sandy pooches after running on the beach! There was also toilet, basin and well lit mirror. Essentials such as hand soap, shampoo and shower gel were also provided.
At the end of the hallway, is the light and spacious living room and kitchen. At the end of the room, there are french doors looking over the communal garden and on the far left side and two windows still benefitting from the far reaching views out to sea. Whether you were dining at the table or curled up on the sofa, you could still see the sea. Something that is essential for me out of my holiday accommodation.
The kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything you could need to benefit from self catering and cook your own meals. If, however, you prefer to have a holiday from cooking when you're away, Little Haven is perfectly situated to dine in some of St Ives' finest restaurants, all within easy walking distance such as Pedn Vounder Hotel and Porthminster Kitchen.
Becky and Alex provided a guest folder with all the details you could need for your stay including house rules, wifi details and information of eating places they recommended for your stay.
The parking space was invaluable in such a great location in St Ives. Driving a Honda CR-V, one challenge when looking for parking with accommodation in Cornwall is accessibility and finding parking spaces large enough but neither of these were a problem here. I hardly moved the car while I stayed there as most places were within walking distance. A 5 minute walk to the town and harbour front and pretty much a 30 second walk to the stunning Porthminster Beach. Little Haven is also perfectly situated for walking on the coast path to Carbis Bay and beyond and also for catching the train. The trains run quite late into the evening, but once I was inside the flat, I couldn't hear them so they did not spoil the peace and quiet.
One other thing that stood out at Little Haven, was how sparkling clean it was. Details were also left for who managed the housekeeping for if there were any issues during the stay too.
I would not hesitate from staying at Little Haven again or from recommending it to my friends. It had everything I look for in my holiday accommodation and more. Becky was an outstanding host and really went the extra mile to look after and help me before and during my stay.
