Cornwall - Where it all began...
Updated: Nov 7, 2019
I have been coming to visit Cornwall since I was a very little girl. We came and visited every year as a family up until I was 5 years old, when my dad decided that the journey was too far from Cambridgeshire, so we stopped coming. I never forgot the places I'd fallen in love with and always wanted to come back. The main place was Holywell Bay and it's still one of my favourite Cornish beaches.
I then became one of those cliche Doc Martin fans that was drawn back to the county because of the series. Watching the series, it brought forward all of my cornish memories from the back of my mind and that was when my love for Cornwall was reignited. I only started watching the series from series 3 but I quickly fell in love with the scenery and made the decision that we should return to visit Cornwall again. Since then we have been every year since 2014 and each year, we have visited more and more times. This year I will have visited four times.
Cornwall is simply unique. One of a kind. The kind of place that lifts your soul as soon as you breathe in the sea air. The perfect location for an essential dose of vitamin sea. I've learnt that a regular dose of this is essential for my mental and physical wellbeing. If I'm having a difficult day at home, I crave my time in Cornwall. I love its character and how it's a county that just keeps on giving. How each piece of coastline is different from the next. How the cottages are uniquely different from any other. How the sea is still turquoise blue even when the sun doesn't shine. How it resembles the Caribbean without having to get on a plane.
I decided to start this blog as I wanted to have a place where I could share the places I visit and discover when I come down to visit. Walks I go on, places to eat, dog friendly spaces, places I've stayed. I hope you enjoy it and if there's anything you would like me to cover, please leave a comment below.
